Hearing Loss and You
Hearing loss is a common problem, affecting some 28 million Americans. Left untreated, hearing loss can significantly impair a person's ability to interact with others, often leading to feelings of confusion and isolation. Although some hearing loss can be improved with medical or surgical procedures, most hearing loss, especially loss that comes with aging, cannot be helped by such intervention. A hearing aid is often the best available and perhaps the only option to treat most hearing loss.
Often the person suffering hearing loss denies the problem, accusing others of mumbling or speaking too rapidly.
